Stefanelli’s paintings resonate with the exploding color, charm and the emotion of the legendary Cedar Tavern.  Mr Stefanelli was the studio mate with Willem DeKooning and on many occasions, picked an inebriated Jackson Pollock out of the gutter. The Cedar Tavern served as a something of second home in those days, the site of many an artistic alcohol-fueled fisticuff, where quarrels centered over real versus phony art.

His work here shows the marks of master draughtsmanship rarely encountered.
