Photographer and painter Librado Romero spent much of his childhood in Calexico with his mom reportedly shouting out references about NYC even though she'd never even set foot in this metropolis. Now for the past 40 years, Librado Romero has been taking pictures for the New York Times and while doing so developed a love for all that is Times Square. In Mr. Romero's first Crossroads photo, he displays a vintage image from 1969 when he snapped up some troubadours playing jazz and blues on the sidewalks of the Allied Chemical Building, still home to the dropping of the New Year's Eve ball.
